...telling you about my delicious "fried quinoa".
...showing off lovely pictures.
...sharing a new recipe.
Instead I will say fried quinoa was a bad idea. That's right folks; at one point I thought it might be a good idea.
I had some chopped veggies left over from our salad Tuesday night and shredded chicken from soup Monday night. I didn't have time to cook brown rice, I was not in the mood for white rice, so I thought I would make "fried rice" with Quinoa. not good. Let me repeat: NOT a good idea.

The first batch ended up in the trash because I started mixing everything in with the egg before the egg was really cooked. We would have had quinoa coated with partially-cooked eggs. bleh!
The second batch I omitted the egg and just added soy sauce. Everything cooked through, but the taste was gag-worthy. I wouldn't even let Brandon try it before I dumped it.
With all of my cooked quinoa ruined, my pre-cut veggies in the trash, and half of what was left of my boiled chicken useless, I pulled a pizza out of the freezer. You can't go wrong with frozen pizza.
Unless you are looking for strike three. And I nearly got it! After a foul of nearly-serving soft-crusted pizza, I stuck it back in the over, sliced and all, to at least get it semi-crunchy and edible.
Thankfully Brandon is not one to complain, especially when he knows how frustrated I am over throwing not one but TWO meals in the trash. He ate and even said "Thank you" and later gave me a back rub. I know; I am a lucky lady!
So for now, I continue our addiction to frozen pizza. Maybe I need to institute a "NO-Frozen-Pizza-Blog-Challenge." We will see.
Tonight I am going to forgo the cooking altogether and enjoy a meal prepared by a good friend who happens to be one of the best cooks I know. (She's Italian; need I say more?)
What is your back up-plan when your meal is not edible?

as much as i want to cook from scratch all the time, we succumb to frozen pizza, too--more than i care to admit.
i made a quinoa pilaf last week in the rice cooker, with chicken stock, a cinnamon stick, some cardamon pods, star anise and raisins. when it was done, i added pumpkin seeds, feta, and sauteed foraged mushrooms. yum!
