Why "Real Food"?
A recent conversation with a friend left me thinking for a long time about a comment she made regarding what many would have considered a "failed" meal. She concluded by saying, "It didn't taste exceptional, but our bodies were nourished so it was still a good meal."
Nourishment. Is that not what food is for?
But I want my food to taste good, to be ready quickly, and to not cost a lot of money--isn't that what you want too?
Regardless of the ways we try to qualify our answer to that question, I think most of us want tasty, nourishing food that does not require hours of preparation or large sums of money. And to add one more thing to the list of what we want in our meals, we want meals that don't make us wonder about the chemicals used or whether the animals or land were treated recklessly.

About Kelly
I love new things. New clothes, new shoes, new cars. OK, the last one is a little unrealistic, but the idea remains the same. New generally means there is plenty of potential; a future awaits.
I feel this way about new years as well. A new year, more than any other time, offers a chance to start fresh, to get out of the ruts and move forward.
At the beginning of 2010, I decided to seize the potential by changing the way my family eats, and I am chronicling this change here.
These changes will incorporate local foods and foods that are sustainable for our personal health as well as that of the environment.
These changes will also have to fit into another goal of mine: to spend less than $100 a week on our groceries. To some that may seem to be a lot of money, but for me that is a manageable goal. We have been spending upwards of that amount, and I want to bring it down to a lower number while remaining committed to eating real foods.
Along with this blog, I also have another one, Irene Design, devoted to all things creative including my own hand made items.   You can also find my handmade items in my Irene Design Etsy Shop.

About Megan
Megan is a wife and mother and works hard to keep her home and family in order . She is also brilliant when it comes to working with a budget.
Megan's strong suit is budgeting, coupon-ing, sale-ing...generally saving money. (She and her husband paid off a huge debt in record time!)
Now Megan has a new element added to this challenge. In a matter of a month she found herself moving from Kentucky to Texas and will have to re-learn all the best places to shop.
She will be sharing about her experiences with feeding her family (including a gourmet-loving husband, a two year old, and an infant) while sticking closely to her budget.

The fine print: I do have some affiliate links (such links to Amazon.com) in my posts.  I only link to items I am comfortable recommending and have had experience with.  I am given a {very} small percentage of any sales made from those links, but that is just one more way to support my blogging and crafting :)
